Chicago Bears Weekly Updates

Player Updates

The Bears have ruled out Justin Fields(QB), Akiem Hicks(DL), Damien Williams(RB), and Allen Robinson(WR) this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Besides Damien Williams, who shares the ball with starter David Montgomery, these are all starters for the Bears. Some are on offense and some are on defense but all are key players on the team and can affect the way the team plays. The Chicago Bears are coming off of a 5 game losing streak with the most recent losses coming from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. The rookie QB Justin Fields did pretty well against the Pittsburgh defense. Fields went for 17/24, 291 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and nearly got a comeback victory for the rookie. He also did pretty well against the Ravens defense but, unfortunately, he had to leave the game because of his bruised ribs. Andy Dalton would start for the Bears again, throw for over 300 passing yards, and score a TD that would help the Bears secure another win that pushed them to a respectable 4-7.

Schedule Updates

The next opponent who the Bears face is the Arizona Cardinals, who are 9-2 and are coming off a 3 game win streak against 3 solid teams. This game can show us what Justin Fields can do if he is healthy and can get cleared for the game but, if not, we will see Andy Dalton under center. Fields has been looking good as a starter for the Bears, seemingly giving the offense life and hope, which has been missing in the past. Fields went down against the Baltimore Ravens and has been diagnosed with broken ribs. The Chicago Bears still have a chance to clinch a wildcard spot in this year's playoffs, but they will have to work and play at peak performance if they want a shot at doing so. Andy Dalton did not look bad against the Lions, but he will need to synchronize with the team better if they even have the hopes to take on the 9-2 Cardinals.

Bears News

Rumors are surfacing in the NFL that the Chicago Bears are expected to release head coach Matt Nagy by the end of the season due to lack of growth and consistency with the franchise. Matt Nagy is not the only one with an uncertain future with the Bears', talks of offensive coordinator Ryan Pace is expected to be released as well. This can be big because the organization would be leaving the growth of their soon-to-be franchise QB in the hands of another coach. "Good coaches would not mind coming to Chicago to help develop Justin Fields into a superstar QB," said by Bears wire.
