AKA disaster
I almost abandoned this series myself. I failed epically. Say it with me now, "no film through the X-ray machine when you fly!" It ruins it. From here on, it didn't matter how hard I had to battle TSA, the film did not get X-rayed.
However, I somehow managed to mess up even worse than the X-ray did. I developed the surviving film at a warm water temperature, destroying the clarity of the salvageable images. Also, this trip was early in the process, so I was not aware that I should take more pictures on my phone too, just in case. So, I got nothing. Just a few poor-quality prints. Zero star performance from me.
As angry as I was, this experience was so necessary for my journey as an artist. I had multiple failed attempts of access, learning that I could not just simply walk into an abandoned building, I needed to be let in. What I did not know was how much better at it I was going to become.
Nevertheless, enjoy the remnants of my film from the remnants of New England.
I had my first encounter with wildlife by these random shopping carts in the back of this building. I was startled as a bunch of mole/rat-looking creatures emerged suddenly and ran away from me. It looked like they had taken up residence in the carts. I am not sure what happened to this place. Vines had started to grow through the concrete and overrun the walls. But the glass was still intact and the inside was generally clean. Who knows, maybe whoever left will be back.
