Thomasville, Georgia
Yes, I know. You do not need to tell me that this looks like The Blair Witch Project. That did cross my mind when I was climbing through the window of the house pictured above. Unfortunately, no ghosts, only old cabins, and old cars.
Over Christmas, my family went to the beach, and every trip this year was an opportunity for me to find something abandoned to photograph. When I heard about Milpond, we drove the two hours north to Georgia. I met the family that lives there and they showed me around, stopping at the dilapidated structures on the property. They knew what most buildings were but some were so old that they were a mystery. Come tramp through the waist-high brush and explore the old homes and vehicles left behind by different generations.
Snake boots are recommended.
The best part about Millpond is that it is not actually abandoned. The family that lives here runs the land as a quail hunting ground. On the property is a large estate that can house people. Large hunting parties can stay at Millpond, helping fund the reconstruction of the estate.
