This year’s Spring Splash Long Course Invite was Ensworth Aquatics’ first Long Course event since the summer of 2019. The meet consisted of timed finals and was held on April 2- 3, 2021.
For this meet, performance expectations lagged behind the basic optimism felt by our coaching staff and swimmers for the opportunity to dip their toes back into long course racing. These humble expectations didn’t stop a large handful of our 13-and-overs from capturing personal bests, and plenty of others from being hairs away from doing so too.
The strong meet results certainly reflected the high level of seriousness and anticipation our swimmers and coaching staff have for the upcoming (and long-awaited) long course season. We would like to thank the Manchester Makos Swim Team and Excel Aquatics for their positive contribution to the meet and congratulate them on their own strong results. We look forward to the exciting long course season ahead.

Diving in a 50-meter pool for the first time is a unique experience. Just watch many of our age-group swimmers swim backstroke and observe the tipping back of their heads; clearly, they are wondering: When will I get to the wall?
Long course racing is not like short course. Swimmers must adapt their strokes, rely less on turns, and get comfortable with a really long pool!
That said, it was a great experience for our younger swimmers to compete long course, many for their very first time! As we begin transitioning into the long course season, our focus as coaches continues to be learning to swim smooth, fast, and with great technique.

The 2021 TISCA State High School Swimming & Diving Championships were held across four different competition sites due to safety precautions concerning COVID-19. These sites included Tupelo MS, Kingsport TN, Chattanooga TN, and here at Ensworth High School in Nashville TN. Also unlike the traditional TISCA Championship meet, historically held at one location, this year’s meet was solely timed-finals - bypassing preliminary qualifications. At the end of the final session on Sunday, April 25th, results from the four meets were combined together and scored accordingly.
Despite the unideal meet set-up, the results from this year’s TISCA Swimming & Diving Championship looked like any normal year, that is, high-level swimming - and lots of it. Here at Ensworth Aquatics, we were pleased to meet our expectations of securing a significant chunk of the top 8 & top 16 finishes.
As a club team, Ensworth Aquatics takes pride in being the home for swimmers representing a large handful of different counties and schools across Middle Tennessee. At this year’s meet, we had 15 different high schools being represented by swimmers from our club program:
Battle Ground Academy
Brentwood High School
Brentwood Academy
Centennial High School
Ensworth High School
Father Ryan
Franklin High School
Hillsboro High School
Harpeth Hall
Hume Fogg
Independence High School
Montgomery Bell Academy
MTHEA
Page High School
Ravenwood High School
St. Cecilia Academy

Here at Ensworth, we were grateful to have been selected to host one of the location sites for this year’s TISCA Swimming and Diving Championships. It was special for our swimmers and coaches to compete at our home pool, but it was even more special to share our facility with the entire high school swimming community of middle Tennessee - as we don’t take exhibiting our facility and hospitality to visitors for granted. By the meet’s conclusion, we felt confident that we had successfully maximized performance conditions for all swimmers and coaches to the best of our abilities within the constraints of COVID-19 safety protocol. We want to congratulate all the meet participants on their successes, and we look forward to another year of Tennessee swimming.
Six of our Ensworth Aquatics teammates recently returned from Orlando where they competed against some of the best 18 & Under swimmers in the country at the TYR 18 & Under Spring Cup.
This USA Swimming sponsored event took place simultaneously at four different sites around the United States. This was a Long Course Meters swim meet and, while our athletes had not competed much in Long Course, we saw a slew of best times across the board, something that bodes well for the summer season ahead.
