The basic outline for the program took several weeks to develop. The I was primarily responsible for the development of the outline, there was considerable input from the NASA HEAT team that was funding the program and from other members of the Audience Team at Science Friday. I started by reviewing the previous work performed by my predecessor as well as similar programs run by Science Friday, NASA and other organizations, such as 4H. This lead to a design brief with requirements, constraints and a summary off the research on similar programs. After extensive feedback, a skeleton for the program was written. This included more structure around how we would actually deliver content including the schedule and a definition of specific topics to be explored. That was then evaluated, the team shared more feedback, revisions were made, and I added additional details such as essential questions and materials needed for the activities.
The summary below is the basic outline for the program. From here I'm responsible for finding and preparing subject matter experts for each Q&A sessions, completing the development of the curriculum for each of the weekly topics and activities, and then writing the instructional content.
