Universal support

Universal services are designed to support all children and young people. These services can include:

• Staff training - informal and formal

• Supporting school staff to provide a communication friendly environment

• Supporting school staff to differentiate the curriculum

• Drop in sessions for parents

Targeted support

Targeted services include specific training and advice, assessment and intervention to train those implementing therapy programmes. These services can include:

• Screening for children on entry into nursery or foundation stage

• Support school staff to deliver interventions for young people with SLCN

Specialist support

Specialist services are for children and young people whose needs cannot be met through universal and targeted provisions. These services include:

• Direct 1:1 and group intervention

• Providing detailed assessments and reports

• Target setting and recommendations to meet them

• Reviews

• Reports to support Educational Health Care Plan applications 

• Onward referrals
