The Central Oregon Interpreter Conference (COIC) 2026 is a full-day event that brings interpreters together for professional development, networking, and learning. This year’s theme is “The Thinking Interpreter: Leading the Evolution of Practice and Tools.” We are looking for friendly, dependable, and service-minded volunteers to help us create a welcoming and well-organized experience for attendees, speakers, and staff.
Volunteer Role
As a COIC volunteer, you will help create a positive and professional experience for attendees, speakers, and staff throughout the day. Volunteers are an important part of the conference and support key areas such as registration, attendee guidance, session support, and general event operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, being part of a team, and contributing to a meaningful event that supports interpreters and language access professional

Location: St. Charles Bend, 2500 NE Neff Road, Bend, OR 97701
Conference volunteers play an important role in helping the day run smoothly. Volunteers may support attendee check-in, assist with breakfast and lunch setup, welcome guests, answer general questions, guide attendees to conference spaces, monitor rooms during sessions, help with room transitions, and support end-of-day cleanup.
Volunteers will serve in one of two shifts between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. We are seeking 2 to 3 volunteers per shift.
Shifts:
Morning Shift: 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Afternoon Shift: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
We welcome volunteers who are:
Dependable and punctual
Friendly and professional
Comfortable interacting with the public
Able to follow directions and adapt as needs shift during the event
Willing to help with light physical tasks such as moving chairs, small tables, and supplies
Able to work collaboratively with conference organizers and other volunteers
This role may involve:
Standing or walking for extended periods
Light lifting and carrying
Setting up or moving chairs, small tables, signage, or materials
Volunteers will receive:
The opportunity to support a meaningful professional event for interpreters in Oregon
Experience assisting with conference operations and attendee support
Light breakfast and event-day appreciation
Connection with the local interpreting and language access community
Volunteers are expected to arrive on time for their assigned shift, dress in a clean and professional manner, represent the conference positively, and communicate questions or issues promptly to conference organizers.
