Once upon a time, there was a Grammar Guy named Gary. In fact, he was obsessed with grammar. Good grammar AFFECTED him positively; bad grammar had a negative EFFECT on his mood. The EFFECTS were so serious, in fact, that he needed an epi-pen every time someone used AFFECT and EFFECT incorrectly. The EFFECTS of the epi-pen were rather intense, as well - he had to stab it into his leg (like when people are super allergic to peanuts) every time someone committed a grammar sin.
One day, after a particularly bad case of grammar mistakes wherein his friend Léon used AFFECT incorrectly, and Grammar Guy Gary ended up in the hospital, the latter saw a gorgeous lady walk past. "Wow," he thought. "Who on earth could that be? Her appearance AFFECTS me strangely. I... might be in love..."
"Hi, cutie!" she said from outside his hospital room.
"Who... me?" Gary the Grammar Guy said.
"You!"
"Uh... hi! My name is Grammar Guy Gary..."
"Ermagersh! My name is Grammar Girl Greta!"
And the EFFECT was love.
