Yuko is a senior in Bioengineering: Biotechnology. In addition to her senior design project, she also works as an undergraduate researcher in a systems biology lab at UCSD. Her research focus is the simulation and modeling of human physiology. After graduation, she plans to work for a pharmaceutical company in San Francisco as well as for a systems biology lab in New York before pursuing an advanced degree.
Through the senior design project, Yuko learned how to build, plan, manage, and accomplish a software-development project with a team from scratch. Those are extremely valueable skills to have for any types of careers. On top of that, she aquired the basic skills and knowledge in data structure, image pre-processing, image segmentation, and implementation of software into hardware. Most importantly, she appreciates the collaborators' autonomy allowed by Dr. Fraley and Kevin (PhD mentor) on this project.
