This is the drop-tower current assembly, with the release cart system at the top and the shock absorption system at the bottom of the tower. The outer structure will consist of long t-slot extrusions with netting in between them.
The drop vehicle consists of a frame (created from t-slot extrusions) for the payload and a foam nose-cone designed to purpose as a crumple-zone.
The release mechanism aims to release the drop vehicle with a consistent attitude and prevent drift. Additionally, it serves as a method of safely handling the drop vehicle once its loaded with the payload.
The instrumentation package aims to capture data from inside the drop vehicle to characterize the environment inside the drop vehicle for experiments. It consists of an IMU, a temperature sensor, and a MicroSD card.
