The goal of building my pendulum clock was to improve my skills in AutoCAD, WM2D, calculus, and the design studio so that I could use my knowledge to build bigger projects in the future like a kinetic sculpture. I was faced with many challenges in this process. For example, when I was building my clock I broke the back clear part, I reamed the holes incorrectly so that I had to redo them, I was unable to get it to oscillate till I added lube to the rim, I couldn't figure out how to get my clock to work in WM2D, and I struggled to accurately use the drill press. Although I made many mistakes, I'm so incredibly proud of myself because I genuinely work so so hard and I had never used any of the equipment besides a basic screwdriver.
The most important outcome of this project is that I learned so much and I was able to build something so incredibly interesting. I learned how to solve very complicated equations and how to use machines such as the drill press, tapping, and a regular drill. I also was able to get my clock to properly tick by the end of the process which was ultimately my goal.
