The kingpin connects all the other components together. The double A-Arms will be installed onto the kingpin through a rod end. The spindle and the brake caliper mount will be welded onto the bottom hole of kingpin. The kingpin needs to meet the following requirements:
Must be able to hold the weight of the vehicle along its vertical axis.
Minimize scrub radius to 0 in to reduce friction.
Have a high underbody clearance of 12 in (1 ft) to reduce aerodynamic drag, which increases energy efficiency.
Withstand bump load when the vehicle hits the pothole or bump, brake load when the vehicle brakes, and side load when the vehicle turns a corner.
Must be able to hole the spindle, A-arms, steering arm, and brake caliper mount.
