Kingpin

The kingpin connects all the other components together. The double A-Arms will be installed onto the kingpin through a rod end. The spindle and the brake caliper mount will be welded onto the bottom hole of kingpin. The kingpin needs to meet the following requirements:

• Must be able to hold the weight of the vehicle along its vertical axis.

• Minimize scrub radius to 0 in to reduce friction.

• Have a high underbody clearance of 12 in (1 ft) to reduce aerodynamic drag, which increases energy efficiency.

• Withstand bump load when the vehicle hits the pothole or bump, brake load when the vehicle brakes, and side load when the vehicle turns a corner.

• Must be able to hole the spindle, A-arms, steering arm, and brake caliper mount.
