Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Changing the layout of the inner system to allow for the tape to be housed on the top and back of the product
Figuring out the necessary cutting tools needed to be able to reliably use electrical tape
Figuring out how to add a trigger system to make the bundling easier
Accomplishments from Previous Week
CADded a new housing design to switch around the inner layout
Obtained new cutting tools for testing this upcoming week
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Create inner trigger design
Assemble new prototype with new layout and parts
Test new design
Get both quantitative and qualitative analyses
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Gave us surgical markers and sterilization sponges
Sponges are used by gently dabbing or gently scrubbing
Order goes: numb, tape, wash, mark, procedure
Test the tape adhesive retention for at least an hour
Room temperature water is fine
Soak in water, then spray with water every 5 minutes for an hours to simulate bleeding
Electric tape is the optimal tape used
Tape the full length of the hair, then bend over and tape again so the hair isn’t so far from the head
Procedures use either staples or sutures
Ethicon/Johnson and Johnson Surgical Stapler
Think about how we can create a simulation
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Work on flow of presentation
Put previous designs before current designs
More explanation pictures and animations or certain things
Grab mechanism
Grammar: “Surgeon is more familiar with tape”
Include analysis of tape adhesive or tape type
Clarify how we did the analysis of springs and why we chose them (individually or in combination)
Include methods of drawing conclusions
FBDs, equations, videos/GIFs
More advantages:
Tape has less hang weight than bundle lock
Deals with back of the hair too
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
How are the lengths of hair being dealt with after they are taped?
Less wording on the slides
Incorporate more CAD pictures or animations of how the inner system works
Liked justification of why we moved away from some ideas
Reasoning for not using surgical tape
Increase font size
Have more useful pictures
More engineering justification
Risks and Areas of Concern
We are having difficulty incorporating a trigger
We are not sure how the bar linkage system should be placed or whether that is the best option
Resources or Information Required but not Available
