Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Water loss testing will be based on temperature (solar loading - heat lamps), humidity (air-conditioning in closed room), and wind (heat fan)
Will need to finish constructed controlled water loss environment setup
We have already picked up the 7 sewn bags
We have done initial water loss testing using the heat gun to test for water loss with silk bag
Accomplishments from Previous Week
We did initial water loss testing of silk bag
We ordered the necessary parts for our controlled water loss test environment
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Everyone: Help construct and check over the Arduino Uno setup with the heat gun
Everyone: check if data for water loss makes sense when we finish water loss tested
Albert/Jordan: Get website updated especially the Gantt Chart
Albert: Document closely any small or big comments or suggestions made by instructor or lead sponsor during meetings
Jordan: look over Arduino Uno programming and setup for controlling the heat gun
Dylan: Keep in contact with Todor for any possible issues and progress on testing
Anyone: If anyone has free time, do water loss testing and weigh start and end times
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
What is our current tested for water loss and what’s our progress on it
We did initial testing of water loss through direct heat loading from the heat gun onto the bag/Tupperware as well as heating up an enclosure (bag/Tupperware in middle covered by rectangular cardboard
We will construct the Arduino Uno controlled heat gun so that it maintains at desired temperature range.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
There needs to be a means of testing for water loss (hard data)
Do as much necessary testing that seems reasonable (all possible causes of water loss)
Risks and Areas of Concern
Will the Arduino Uno controlled heat-gun work properly (logs data, set the heat level at the correct desired temperatures we want)
What are we going to do to ensure that there isn’t too much heat seeping away from our water loss tested
What will we do for low humidity water loss testing if we can’t use the low humidity chamber that Todor has at his company’s place
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Water loss rate for the prototype and company silk bags
What is the primary cause for water loss in the bag?
What is the noise performance of the new bags compared to the original silk bags
Schedule
Do rigorous water loss testing
Finalize a standard, but replicable water loss tested
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Currently, we have only used approximately $210 out of the $1000 so far.
Christian spent around $25 for the bag materials
Total cost of the bags were $83.93 (materials and fabrication accounted for)
We ordered the bulk of our controlled water loss testing equipment, which cost us $74.19
Kevin spent about $25 for the heat gun
