Arrival/Drop Off

Dancers must arrive at the venue a half hour before the show begins. We encourage dancers to wear a cover-up over their costumes.  Parents should escort dancers to the dressing room (the gym) and check them in with the Room Mom prior to the start or your dancer’s Act.   Please remember that only females are allowed in this backstage area.  Parents may then take their seats in the audience and enjoy the show!  After their dancer’s number, parents should quickly exit the auditorium and return to the gym to pick up their dancer. 

What to Bring

• All dance shoes needed for recital

• Costumes and all hair pieces, tights, accessories, etc. 

• Please be very careful eating or drinking in your costume

• No Tap Shoes in the Gym

• LABEL EVERYTHING!

Tips & Tricks that are Tried & True

• Get two pairs of tights.  Sometimes, tights run so it’s always good to have a backup!

• Pack an emergency kit.  Many of our Encore Families include the following: scissors, extra needle and thread, baby wipes, hairspray and a small comb, hand sanitizer, tissues

• Plan the night before.  Lay out all your costume parts and make a list of everything you want to bring the evening before Recital to make sure you are ready to go

• Bring a towel or blanket so dancers can sit on the gym floor without getting their costume dirty

• Games/cards backstage make great distractions backstage!  Some families also bring coloring books and crayons, but please nothing that could accidentally get on a costume!

• Bring a cover up.  A bathrobe, sweatshirt and pants or clothes to change out of/into easily.

• Leave the camera at home.  Please no flash photography or video-taping during the show.  It often disorients dancers and confuses them and obstructs the view of other ticket holding patrons.

• Don’t forget to print off your tickets, or have your digital copy and have your phone for our digital program.

After the Show/Pick Up

After their dancer’s number, parents should quickly exit the auditorium and return to the gym to pick up their dancer.  Any person entering the auditorium and occupying a seat must have a ticket. Small children may sit on laps without a ticket.  We encourage you to bring your dancer back into the auditorium to watch the remainder of the show!
