MARGINS: one inch on all sides
HEADER: include your last name and page number on each page, flush with right margin
HEADING: Include Full Name, Teacher's Name, Class Name, and Date, flush with left margin
SPACING: Double space the entire document, including Heading and Works Cited, and leave only one space after periods or other punctuation marks
INDENT: Indent the first line of each paragraph one tab or one half-inch from the left margin
FONT: 12-point plain font like Times New Roman
TITLE: No title page, Center Title below Heading, no extra spacing before your text begins
Maintain MLA paper format (margins, spacing, header)
Begin your Works Cited page on a separate page at the end of your paper, title the page Works Cited, center the title
Citations begin on the next line, no extra space needed, an aligned with the left margin
Maintain double spacing and do not skip lines between entries
Do not indent the first line of each citation but do indent the 2nd line and all that follow (hanging indent)
Alphabetize each entry by the first word in the citation
Capitalize all words in a title of a work except for articles (the, a), prepositions (to) or conjunctions (unless the first word)
Include the URLs of websites
Do your best to include all of the information each type of citation requires, but frequently information is missing - skip it and move on
All works cited entries end with a period
In-text citations/parenthetical citations provide source information in parentheses whenever you quote or paraphrase
Any source information you provide in-text must correspond to the source information on your Works Cited page
The goal is to provide your reader with enough information in-text to find the more detailed source information on your Works Cited page
It will be helpful to create your Works Cited page first or alongside your in-text citations
Ideally, you will list the author's last name and page number in parentheses at the end of the sentence you are quoting or paraphrasing before the period (order = " (Sheinkin 127). )
Often your sources do not have authors or page numbers so use the first word you included in your Works Cited page citation ("Cold War")
