Library Mission Statement:
The mission of Rosemead High School Library Media Center is to provide a place for students to learn and appreciate the power of information through various print and electronic materials. The library will supply a space for students to have the opportunity to become creators of information as well as lifelong learners. The library will support the curriculum by collaborating with teachers and staff, developing a collection that is representative of the school community, and implementing literacy instruction for students to be college and career-ready.
Library Vision Statement:
The vision of Rosemead High School Library Media Center seeks to create a 21st-century environment that promotes learning for all students by providing equitable access to information literacy skills and encouraging lifelong learning. RHS Library Media Center strives to be a center of collaborative learningthat produces creative students who have an appreciation of literature, critical thinking skills, research skills, and respect for others and self.
Library Objectives:
To champion and supply all users materials that support the curriculum of all classes as well as provide recreational reading materials that meet the interests and needs of all students and staff. At the same time, ensuring that all materials represent diversity while fostering the love for reading.
To engage and collaborate with our teachers and students in order to form a more customized learning and instructional environment that is able to comply with any type of library user's needs.
To instruct and assist educators and students in understanding and mastering the resources and technologies that are available in the ever-changing world of technology.
To discover and provide a range of resources that are up-to-date and represent the diversity of the world around us.
Library Policies:
Materials may only be checked out from the library with a valid RHS ID Card or you school ID number.
Regular books are checked out for three weeks before they must be returned or renewed.
Most reference materials may be checked out of the library.
Computers are available for students to complete school-related research.
No food is allowed in the library at anytime.
To use the library restrooms, you must first sign in at the front desk and pick up the key.
Students can check out as many as five (5) books at one time.
Students are allowed to print five pages per day for free on the computers, printing of essays is an exception.
Library Procedures:
When entering the library during class time you must have a library pass from your teacher.
While in the library you should keep conversations low and be respectful of other library users.
To locate a book in the library search the library catalog "Destiny" which can be found on the library website.
If you use a book and do not wish to check it out please give it to a library worker or library staff.
Library Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm (during school days)
After school tutoring is available in the library Monday - Thursday, 3:45pm - 5:45pm
Library Expectations:
The primary goal of the library is to create a welcoming, safe environment for ALL community members to access information and immerse themselves in learning. Everyone is welcome as long as you adhere to the following guidelines.
Demonstrate respect for fellow students, faculty, library property, and personal property at all times.
To maintain an environment that is conducive to learning, noise should be kept to a minimum.
Food is not allowed, and drinks must be covered.
Computers are for academic use only.

Book Checkout - The library has over 10,000 titles available for both research and personal reading.
Personalized reading recommendations for students, staff and the RHS community
Monthly book displays in the library, curated by the librarian
Various book related programming offered throughout the year
Research Assistance - RHS has a full-time credentialed librarian to help assist students and staff members.
One-on-one or small group help with research projects
Collaboration with staff on academic projects
Workshops related to research, media literacy, and digital citizenship
Computer Access - Desktop computers are available for student and staff use.
