SEL Resources for the Home

SEL in the Home

Social Awareness and Relationship Skills | SEL @ Home | PBS LearningMediaDiscover how taking the time to better understand the needs and perspectives of others helps your child be part of a larger community. Humans are social creatures, so understanding and empathizing with others is an important part of developing relationships. As a child’s first teacher, parents have a unique opportunity to help their child explore their role in a larger world.
Self-Awareness and Self-Management | SEL @ Home | PBS LearningMediaExplore how a better understanding of their own feelings and experiences can help children have better control of their actions. Parents will learn how to help their child become more aware of their emotions, their strengths and weaknesses, and what makes them an individual. That increased awareness will help them better manage their behavior and interactions with others.
An Introduction | SEL @ Home | PBS LearningMediaLearn the basics of Social and Emotional Learning and how parents can support their child’s SEL growth at home. Educators from across Ohio discuss SEL, and how schools and parents can work together to strengthen the overall well-being of students. Includes a brief introduction to the Ohio Whole Child Framework.

Positive Behaviors Expectations- PBIS

EMSD 37 is a PBIS district. We use Positive Behavior Expectations to help promote structures and routines to keep our students focused on learning, building positive relationships and staying safe within our school environments.  Families can use this program in the home to continue to build these support, structures and language to continue students growth.
