Rural SchoolS Innovation Zone Site Visit

Site visits will include tours of campuses and opportunities to hear from students, teachers, and leaders. For additional details, please see the agenda here.

Day 1 - February 18

Day Time - Travel and arrival in Corpus Christi 

4:30 - 6 PM: Welcome, Networking and RISZ Overview 

• RSIZ leaders will join us for a welcome and networking opportunity. This will include an overview of the RSIZ, an opportunity for questions and answers, and a preview of the tour the following day.  Light bites will be served.

Day 2 - February 19

6:30 - 7:15 am: Breakfast is available at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel

7:15 am: Depart from the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel, Travel to RSIZ, Bus transportation will be provided to the RSIZ districts for the tour

8:45 am - 5:15 pm: RSIZ Tour 

• • Participants will visit the five RSIZ academies and have opportunities to hear from students, district leadership, and RSIZ leadership. Lunch will be provided during the tour. Participants will visit 

    • Falfurrias High School - Ignite Technical Institute, Academy Tour

    • Premont Collegiate High School - GYO Academy and Will Zelaya STEM Discovery Zone 

      • Lunch, Leadership Panel, Academy overview 

    • Benavides Secondary - Tradewinds Academy, Academy Tour 

    • Freer High School - Next Generation Medical Academy, Academy Tour and Student Panel 

5:15  - 7 pm:  Return to Omni Corpus Christi Hotel

7 pm onward: Free Evening/ Return Travel - depending on participants' home location, participants can travel home the evening of 2/19 or on 2/20

Day 3 - February 20

Day Time - Return Travel, there will be no formal programming on 2/20
