COST per semester is $200 includes Lego Robotics T-Shirt. .
The Intermediate Challenge class on Thursdays is open to both GIRLS AND BOYS. They will use Lego EV3 Robotics kits and every student will have their own kit for building and coding. This class will build on the groups basic knowledge and introduce more advanced building and coding challenges with an emphasis on building and coding one robot that can complete a variety of tasks with the same code. COST per semester is $200 includes Lego Robotics T-Shirt.
The Lego Robotics Competition Lego Lab will meet on Wednesday. THIS YEAR-EVERYONE WILL BUILD AND CODE THEIR OWN ROBOT! YOU WILL COMPETE AS AN ALLIANCE WITH ANOTHER PERSON, WHICH WILL BE ASSIGNED AT RANDOM, BUT YOU WILL BUILD AND CODE YOUR OWN ROBOT FROM DAY ONE. You will attend only one lab per week and the lab is two hours long to allow plenty of time for building and testing. At this time we do not have confirmation from other schools for our competition. We will have our first contest during the lego lab the week of Halloween and compete against each other. We will hold our Annual Lego Robotics Competition on Friday, December 5th, from 9-1pm, with official judges, lunch, trophies, and other prizes. This class is designed for our youngest Lego Engineers who are eager to start robotics but don't yet have the math skills for intricate coding. This hands-on building-based class will focus on designing and building simple machines that work with manpower [pulleys, levers, wheels and axels, wedges, inclined planes, and gears]. Objectives will include: building solid structures that don't easily fall apart, understanding the benefits of a symmetrical design, identifying simple machines we see in everyday life and replicating them with Lego, and constructing designs without step-by-step directions. This is not a coding class, but a foundational class that will enhance and elevate the potential of future robot builds. {This class does NOT use the EV3 robots, these students have skills to learn first to be successful with the EV3} This class is co-taught by Karyn Kuniyuki and Andrew Gutierrez.
[Starts 8/20. No Class 11/26, Thanksgiving Break. Ends 12/10.]
