Cricut is a a cutting machine used to design a variety of maker-products and crafts. It can cut a variety of materials including vinyl (stickers), heat transfer vinyl (to apply on clothing or bags), or paper (cards, signs).
Learn more about the Cricut below. To earn this Micro-credential, you will demonstrate proficient understanding of the Cricut Design Studio software, create a custom design, cut and weed it effectively, and apply it to a desired product.
Eminence has a Cricut Maker, Weeding Tools and a Heat Press for maker projects.

Open the link to the right to explore the Cricut Blog. Set a timer for 20 minutes at least and explore projects others have completed.
Cricut needs specific software to work. Download and install Design Studio with the link to the right.

After your product is cut, you will have to weed the vinyl and use transfer tape to apply your creation to a product. Watch this video to learn more about that process.
The library has some vinyl scrap students may access for free.
Full 12"x12" single color sheets of sticker vinyl or heat transfer vinyl cost $1 each.
Remember - a Cricut is a cutting tool - not a printer. If your design has multiple colors, you need a new sheet of vinyl for each layer. When students first use the Cricut, we recommend designs on a single color.
Where do you plan to put your product? On a car window? A shirt? A water bottle? Know the size of your end product and design with correct dimensions in mind.
Prepare your file in Design Studio and schedule a time to access the Cricut machine a tools. Please email the librarians to schedule access to these tools. Plan on needing 30+ minutes to cut your product.
Weed and prepare your product for application.
