Carrie Buist

Carrie Buist (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. In addition to Dr. Buist's numerous publications and invited talks, her co-authored book, Queer Criminology, has been nationally recognized. Her most recent work focuses on Queer Criminology and its application both inside and outside of academia.

Marilyn Corsianos

Marilyn Corsianos (she/her/hers or they/them/their) is Professor of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology and Women's and Gender Studies at Eastern Michigan University. Her research interests include institutions of social control, public and private policing, power and violence. She is committed to pursuing social change by identifying exclusionary practices in the production of knowledge, and identifying more equitable policing systems.

Michael Mitchell

Michael B. Mitchell (he/him/his) is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor (tenure-track effective Fall 2021) of African American Studies with a joint appointment in Criminology at The College of New Jersey. His research foregrounds the lived experiences of marginalized populations navigating through and transitioning out of correctional institutions. He is very active in progressive circles and frequently presents at academic conferences throughout the U.S.

Rita Shah

Rita Shah (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor of Criminology at Eastern Michigan University. Her research focuses on the social construction of corrections. She is also an amateur photographer. You can learn more about her academic and photographic work at her website.

Allyn Walker

Allyn Walker (they/them) is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University. Their research focuses on institutional harm, including that which is created by the criminal processing system and by mental health care systems. In their spare time, Allyn plays roller derby and hangs out with Hildegard, their Yorkshire Terrier.
