Our “Play It Safe Around Electricity'' program. Funded by DTE Energy and supported by the Eastern Michigan University Foundations, this program is a community staple that teaches young children about gas and electrical safety in southeast Michigan communities. While the Covid-19 pandemic heavily impacted our program in 2020 and 2021, as it did many programs and businesses, we’re hoping to extend our outreach to you and the children involved with your business and/or programs. The “Play It Safe Around Electricity” program, along with our mascot Louie the Lightning Bug, travels to many locations, including schools, libraries, after school programs, and community events. Each interactive Louie presentation is hosted by two Louie team members and takes around 45 minutes in total, including a special video featuring Louie the Lightning Bug. The ideal ages for the children are between four and eight. Some of the feedback from the locations we visited:
“We have a visit from Louie for the past 7 years for our Safety Town program. The students do an excellent job of teaching and interacting with the kids.”
-Maria Merolla, St. Paul Preschool
“The staff that provided the presentations, June and July, were very pleasant, friendly, and an asset to both DTE and EMU. Always a great program and beneficial to our students.”
-Janet Marion, Saline Area Schools
We look forward to being a benefit to the children involved with your
business and/or programs!
