Process
Purpose of the Group (Cluster) Hire Project
Creating and retaining a thriving culture of inclusive excellence often occurs through thoughtful collaboration within and across units in areas that are of strategic value to the university. The Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs invites proposals for faculty group or cluster hires that:
fit within the University's strategic plan,
support new ideas, strategies, and actions that respond to changing contexts,
and positions the university to capitalize on new opportunities.
If you have interest in proposing a cluster hire, please proceed with the following step.
Step 1: Find your Colleagues
Network with colleagues. Consider ways in which hiring a thematic cluster may foster a stronger sense of community among colleagues, encourage collaboration across departmental, college, and campus lines, and support the mission, vision, and strategic plans of the University.
Step 2: Make Decisions
Determine the clusters theme and what an ideal group/cluster hire would look like to meet your goals from step 1. Meet with DH/SD and faculty from all departments involved. Speak with Deans and or Center Directors to ensure their support.
Step 3: Submit Application
Submit an online initial application request. All requests will be reviewed and evaluated.
Step 4: Call for Proposals
A set of initial clusters will be selected for consideration and a formal call for full proposals will be issued Friday October 27, 2023.
Step 5: Submit Proposal
To be considered for the cluster hire, a formal proposal must be submitted online. The details of the proposal can be found here.
Step 5: Announcement
Final decisions will be made during the Fall 2023 semester. Award recipients will be notified in advance of a formal University announcement.
