Beyond my responsibilities in research and teaching, I have been deeply engaged in service activities at the University, College, and Department levels at EMU. I was honored to be selected as one of four MAC ALDP Fellows for the 2022–2023 academic year.
I currently serve as the Director of the Master of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Development (MSHROD) China Program, a collaborative graduate initiative between EMU and Tianjin University of Commerce (TJUC) in Tianjin, China. This program supports a cohort of 30 Chinese students annually, awarding them an EMU MSHROD degree. Courses are delivered jointly by faculty from both institutions. We recently celebrated the graduation of our 19th cohort and are preparing to welcome our 21st. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the program has continued to grow and thrive.
At the university level, I have served on the University Research and Sabbatical Leave Committee since 2016, including several terms as chair. This role has provided me with a broad perspective on the diverse research endeavors across EMU’s academic disciplines—an experience I find deeply rewarding.
My commitment to student success is reflected in my involvement with several mentoring initiatives. I am a mentor in the Digital Summer Clinic, supporting students in gaining real-world digital experience. I also participate in Mentoring 4 Life: Enhancing STEM Graduate Student Well-Being (since 2021) and the Mentoring for Success Initiative as a faculty member of the Mentoring Learning Community (since 2022).
As the Faculty Representative on the Business Operations Committee, I’ve gained valuable insights into the university’s operational infrastructure. I also serve on the Technology Issues Committee and its subcommittees, where I became an early adopter of the HyFlex classroom model.
I have collaborated with colleagues across campus, serving as an external member on the Faculty Search Committee for the School of Visual and Built Environments (2020–2021 and 2022–2023), and on dissertation committees within the College of Technology and the School of Visual and Built Environments.
I also served as a DEI facilitator with the Committee for Action on Intersectionality, AntiRacism, and Equity (CAIRE), contributing to efforts that promote equity and inclusion across campus.
A strong advocate for faculty rights and shared governance, I have been an active member of EMU-AAUP. I served as Grievance Officer in 2020–2021 and was elected Member-at-Large to the EMU-AAUP Executive Committee in Fall 2021. In this role, I helped launch the EMU-AAUP Update newsletter and contributed to managing the union’s social media presence, growing its Facebook and Twitter followings to over 1,000.
At the College level, I serve on the Professional Development and Ethics Committee, which focuses on cultivating professional skills and ethical awareness among business students. I played a key role in developing the committee’s digital badge initiative, enrolling over 100 students in the program with 20 earning the badge in the first year.
At the Department level, I have served as Library Liaison since joining EMU in 2013. I have also contributed to the Research Committee, Ad-hoc Student Retention and Recruitment Committees, and chaired the Informational Effectiveness Committee, where I gained valuable experience in program development and design.
In addition to my university service, I serve as the Director of the NCCWSL initiative for the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). In this role, I help send young women student leaders from EMU, CMU, WCC, and the University of Michigan to the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) each year—an initiative that empowers and uplifts emerging women leaders.
I am also a proud member of EMU’s Women in Philanthropy, supporting initiatives that enhance the university community through collective giving and engagement.
These varied service roles have equipped me with the skills to collaborate effectively across departments and disciplines. I bring a strong ability to organize, coordinate, and engage with diverse perspectives and ideas.
