E-CONTRACTOR ACADEMY IN THE NORTHEAST

Since launching its first E-Contractor Academy (ECA) in 2018, Emerald Cities Collaborative (ECC) Northeast has trained five cohorts and provided ongoing support to 80 MWBE contractors in Massachusetts. The E-Contractor program for contractors includes ongoing coaching for contractors, further training and educational opportunities, helping them connect with project opportunities, linking them with business support professionals including accountants to help develop back-office systems, marketing specialists, as well as legal, and insurance specialists. ECC staff have connected contractors to banks and providers of small business capital, especially working capital, including the Boston Impact Initiative.

E-Contractor Academy in the Northeast is part of a larger national E-Contractor network at Emerald Cities Collaborative. The E-Contractor Academy started in 2013 and has a network of over 500 contractors nationwide.

Merrimack Valley Renewal Fund

In July of 2020, the Baker-Polito Administration and Attorney General (AG) Maura Healey came to an agreement with Columbia Gas that required the company to pay $56 million for its role in the 2018 Merrimack Valley gas explosions. These funds will provide debt relief for gas bills to thousands of low-income gas customers and enable clean energy and energy efficiency efforts in homes and buildings in Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover.

The E-Contractor Academy is part of a network of Merrimack Valley Clean Energy & Energy Efficiency programs that will deliver meaningful benefits for residents in the City of Lawrence and the towns of Andover and North Andover in their energy bills and unlock access to existing statewide energy savings programs like Mass Save.
