The Arab Arts Gala at the &International Arts Festival, April 8, 2022 WRL Theater
Fakkaruni -- the instrumental introduction and interludes from this masterpiece by Egyptian composer, Muhammad Abd al Wahhab. For this performance we invited Professor Leah Glenn's Modern Iv Barefoot dancers to imagine the was in which the early, modern "barefoot" dancers may have been inspired by the orient. This is in fact the world premier as even the performers were collaborating all together for the first time. Many thanks to videographer, Colin Carmody, the staff at the Williamsburg Regional Library Theater, the Amperand International Film Festival and Michael Ibrahim. And musicians, please disregard the E natural in the opening Qanun solo. Either that or enjoy the funky interval. https://youtu.be/EVHcL0pDsCs
