Robert Henderson III

Robert Lee Henderson III was 17 months old when his father killed his mother. He and his six siblings were raised by his grandmother Ona with her own four sons, a former Mississippi sharecropper who escaped to Chicago after suffering abuse from her husband for years. When Robert arrived at Urban Prep, his test scores indicated that he was below-grade level in reading and math. He graduated high school with honors and attended Lake Forest College in Illinois on a partial scholarship, starting with majors in Biology and pre-med. Robert is also a member of the Alpha Phi Omega (ΑΦΩ) which is a national service fraternity. Robert graduated as a premed student, with a double major in History and American Studies and a minor in Asian Studies. He then joined City Year in South Carolina Columbia, an education organization fueled by national service. After his year of service with City Year in South Carolina, he spent the next two years working as an elementary Math school teacher in Denver Colorado. He is now living in Kansas City, Missouri as a 8th & 6th grade English Language Arts (ELA) & Fitness teacher at EMKS. He is also still paying off his college loans. He remains interested in exploring other service-oriented careers, such as firefighter or emergency medical technician. On Robert’s down time he competes in semi-pro Rugby and volunteer teaching martial arts. He also travels the world to speak about ways to combat against white supremacy; and stand against anti-black propaganda that is showed in the Mainstream media.

Krishaun Branch

Krishaun Branch has made "All the Difference" during his journey as a millennial and continues to consistently beat the odds. During his early years, growing up on Chicago’s Southside in a gang-infested and crime-ridden neighborhood, he was a tough kid who had to fight to stay alive. Higher education was not at the forefront of Krishaun's mind as he struggled early on in school, but he knew he desired something better for himself, his brother, Devante Carthan and his mother Pamela Boyd . He soon recognized that hard work, determination, and perseverance would be the only way to achieve a better future and rise to greatness. Krishaun enrolled in Urban Prep Academies, an all-male black high school in Chicago that has earned national recognition for consistently preparing 100% of its graduates for acceptance into four-year colleges or universities. Krishaun was one of the first Urban Prep students to graduate from college in 2014, earning a BS in Psychology from Fisk University. Upon graduating, Krishaun was immediately hired by his high school Alma Mater, Urban Prep, to work in their office of admissions and recruitment. Krishaun is now the Dean of Students for Urban Prep Charter Academies for Young Men- West Campus. Krishaun is one of the two Urban Prep students featured in the PBS documentary “All the Difference,” which follows their journeys from high school through college and very candidly shares their trials, tribulations and triumphs. Krishaun is a highly sought after speaker and panelist for a variety of events and causes surrounding the issues of education, community violence and BYMOC. Krishaun’s journey to walking across the college stage to receive his degree was not easy as he struggled with financial pressures, loneliness and self-doubt. It was by keeping Urban Prep’s creed in the forefront of his mind that he was able to perservere: “We Believe. …We never fail because we never give up.” Krishaun is a member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity Incorporated. He has one son, Krishaun Branch, Jr.
