Use of Cellphones Today
In the article, Walton explains to the reader that “the connection between cell phone radiation and health risks is not anywhere near being settled.” And while phone manufacturers have displayed suggestions to the users, such as using the speakerphone option more often, the users do not always read down the fine print of the manuals.
2) Naeem, Zahid. “Health Risks Associated with Mobile Phones Use.” International Journal of Health Sciences, Qassim University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oct. 2014, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4350886/.
Naeem does a great job of explaining how the exposure to radiofrequency energy given off by the phone can become a major risk to the user over time. He explains “Mobile phones emit radiofrequency energy, a form of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, which can be absorbed by tissues close to the phone. The amount of radiofrequency energy a mobile phone user is exposed depend on many factors as the technology of the phone, the distance between the phone and the user, the extent and type of mobile phone use and the user’s distance from cell phone towers.” Thus giving us all the more reason to believe in the high health risks which take part in the use of cell phones.
3) “Can Cell Phones Harm Our Health?” National Center for Health Research, 11 July 2017, www.center4research.org/can-cell-phones-harm-health/.
The article talks about the aspects of cell phone use and its effects on tumors and other health risks. It says, “In 2007 and 2012, scientists published two different reviews of cell phones and brain tumors, and concluded that studies of individuals using cell phones for more than 10 years ‘give a consistent pattern of an increased risk for acoustic neuroma and glioma,’ with the risk being highest for a tumor on the same side of the head that the phone is used.” The evidence clearly shows that brain tumors are caused by being exposed to the radiation of a cell phone which confirms the statement of cell phones being a health risk.
4) “Cellphones: Unhealthy at Any Speed: IBE 204.9.” Hbelc.org, hbelc.org/courses/cellphones-electromagnetics/237-cellphones?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIye3M5aDy2AIVEIl-Ch2OMwQYEAMYASAAEgL2SvD_BwE.
Once again the article takes the side of cell phones being a risk to human health, while also adding in that WIFI and cordless home phones can be a health risk. The article states, “Cellphones, and SmartPhones in particular, along with their cousins WiFi and cordless home phones, are well documented as presenting significant hazards to human health, and as contributing factors to Sick Building Syndrome (also known as Sick House Syndrome).” This article causes the reader to believe that there is more technology than just cell phones that put humans at risk of exposure to radiation. All in all, these documents all concur that the radiation which cell phones give off is a major risk to the human brain.
