Project

Project activities are primarily being tracked in TeamDynamix (visible to faculty and staff), although some documentation is being kept on a VCCS Buzz site.

College staff are collaborating on materials in a Google Team Drive.

Regular conference calls are being held with college LMS Admins.

EARLY ROLLOUT

Seven colleges stepped up to participate in the VCCS Early Rollout of Canvas.

  • Germanna Community College

  • J Sargeant Reynolds Community College

  • John Tyler Community College

  • Northern Virginia Community College

  • Tidewater Community College

  • Virginia Western Community College

  • Wytheville Community College

At each college, 5-10 faculty were handpicked for their innovative teaching styles, ability to be flexible, and not afraid of risk. Together, with their students, the VCCS project team, and your college LMS Administrator and Instructional Technologists, the Early Rollout Colleges will guide how the new Canvas system will meet the System's goals. Their experience with what works in providing exceptional education will be invaluable to this project.

The early rollout expands in January to include any college that wants to opt in to teach on the new Canvas learning platform. In May of 2019, Canvas will become our only learning platform.

VCCS IMPLMENTATION TEAMS

In addition to the early rollout colleges, VCCS is in the process of creating 5 working groups to help shape our use of CANVAS to improve student success.
