The College of Management at National Chung Hsing University successfully hosted the Doctoral Workshop on Research Methods and Dissertation Writing on November 14–15, featuring a rare visit from world-renowned international business scholar Prof. Jean-François Hennart. NCHU President Fu-Jyh Jan personally welcomed Prof. Hennart—his first return to Taiwan in more than 20 years.
During the two-day workshop, Prof. Hennart delivered lectures on the evolution of international business theory, multinational enterprise behavior, and foreign market entry modes. Drawing on his extensive research experience, he guided participants through theory building, methodological choices, and effective academic writing. Faculty members and doctoral students from universities across Taiwan attended, with about 25% international participants, creating a highly globalized academic environment. Prof. Hennart praised the students’ critical thinking and engagement, noting that he hopes to “return to Taiwan again next year.”
Outside the academic program, Prof. Hennart visited Xitou Nature Education Area in Nantou, where he explored forest trails and observed local ecology. He expressed deep appreciation for Taiwan’s natural scenery and biodiversity.
Prof. Hennart is a Senior Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB) and the European International Business Academy (EIBA). His groundbreaking contributions to multinational enterprise theory and foreign direct investment have earned over 26,000 Google Scholar citations. NCHU noted that his visit marks an important milestone for Taiwan’s management research community and strengthens the university’s global academic connections.
