Editing Checklist
Good writers re-read their work to make sure it sounds polished and professional! Ask yourself . . . .
Capitalization:
Did I capitalize the start of every sentence?
Did I capitalize names of people, pets, and places (proper nouns)?
Did I capitalize the word I?
Punctuation: . !? “ “ ( )
Did I end each sentence with a period, exclamation point, or question mark?
Did I use “quotation marks” around a character’s or author’s words?
Did I use (Author page) after quoted evidence?
Spelling:
Did I try my best to sound out each word?
Did I look up words I didn’t know?
Final Check:
Did I reread my work out loud to listen to how it sounds?
