Creating
Students will individually and collaboratively generate original ideas in their sketchbook
In addition to learning established art techniques students are encouraged to invent their own ways of working with materials.
Students will work to refine skills and art making techniques through practice and attention to craftsmanship
Students will continue to care for and maintain their own tools, materials, and space, as well as help each other.
Students will create works based on their own interests,experiences, and community.
Students will accompany work with written or verbal descriptions.
Presenting
Students will collaborate and organize works for display on our art bulletin boards.
Students will also discuss and compare how art is displayed in museums, galleries, and public art installations.
Students will discuss how new media plays a role in how art is displayed and accessed.
Responding/ Connecting
Students will describe how artists can convey messages and ideas through their work.
Students will discuss how cultures beliefs, values, and customs, inform a visual artists’ work.
Students will be able to break down works of art and discuss how artists use the elements and principles of design to achieve certain effects.
Students will create works of art that tell their own story through visual imagery.
