Standards Based Reporting
Creating
Students will sketch and brainstorm multiple approaches to a creative art or design problem.
Individually and collaboratively they will set goals and create artwork that is meaningful to the maker.
Students will create works based on their own interests,experiences, and community.
In addition to learning established art techniques students are encouraged to invent their own ways of working with materials.
Students will learn to care for and maintain their own tools, materials, and space, as well as help each other.
Through in process critiques students can offer words of encouragement to their peers.
Presenting
Students will organize works for display for our classroom “gallery walks”
Students will also discuss and compare how art is displayed in museums, galleries, and public art installations.
Students will discuss how new media plays a role in how art is displayed and accessed.
Responding/ Connecting
Students will be able to break down works of art and discuss how artists use the elements and principles of design to achieve certain effects.
Students will describe how artists can convey messages and ideas through their work.
Students will create works of art that tell their own story through visual imagery.
