This course is an in depth study of architectural construction plans, documents, materials, and methods with an emphasis on reading and interpreting drawings. Materials include layout, terminology, graphic standards, and drafting fundamentals. Skills include how to locate information and cross-reference between plan and elevation views, sections, details, schedules, specifications, and other contract documents. Materials also include a review of construction documents, reading and interpreting site plans, commercial plans, and civil plans. A design/ build drawing for a proposed structure will be performed as a two-step project by the students
The Class will be set up on a ‘We are all in an active Construction Company’ professional basis:
· The concept of ‘Being a Construction Professional’ will be outlined in class
· The instructor will be taking on the role of ‘Immediate Supervisor’
· Basic professional decorum is anticipated and expected from students
· All Homework is to be word processed, no hand written work will be accepted, and largely submitted via CANVAS. Computer skills assistance is available for students if needed.
Demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing.

Assessment Criteria and Grading Policies:
Make-up or Late Work LATE assignments/quizzes and make-up quizzes will be deducted 25% after the due date. Assignments more than 7 days late will not be accepted for credit. No assignments will be accepted after the start of the Final Exam.

Academic Integrity The department values student honesty and integrity. Serious offenses will be referred immediately to the Vice President of Student Services. Such situations may include, but not be limited to, student conduct during testing (no sharing of test information), “swapping” homework, etc. Operating or having a cell phone during a test will result in a permanent “0” for the course as well as being subject to further disciplinary action.
Attendance Policy Students are expected to attend each class. Occasionally, it is unavoidable that a student misses a class. To avoid a late grade penalty, the student should complete the assignments prior to being absent. Missing more than two classes will result in the instructor dropping the student from class with a failing grade.
(Much of the material covered in class is not covered in the text. Any absence excused or not, will influence your grade. Note: we basically combine three classes into one. Thus a missed class has a more dramatic impact)
