Most Arizona community colleges offer WRIT 101 and 102 through Arizona high school dual enrollment programs as well as on their campus. If you've taken two semesters of English composition and received a C or higher, you have completed the U of A Foundations Writing requirement.
If you are certain that you have completed this coursework (or will complete it before your first semester at U of A), at the end of the evaluation you can select the option "I have completed this requirement."
The U of A also accepts many out-of-state college composition courses taken through dual enrollment as well.
If you report two semesters (i.e., 101 & 102): At the end of the evaluation you can select the option "I have completed this requirement." The UArizona Writing Program will review your coursework it to determine whether your coursework earns Foundations Writing credit. You will receive a follow-up email if your coursework doesn't satisfy the Foundations Writing requirement.
If you report one semester (i.e., 101): At the end of the evaluation, you will be given the choice to select a Semester 2 course. This selection may be updated if your coursework doesn't satisfy the Foundations Writing semester 1 requirement.
The following English Exams are eligible for WRIT 101/107 or WRIT elective credit:
AP English Language and Literature (4 or higher)
AP English Language and Composition (4 or higher)
IB English Literature (HL) (5 or higher)
Cambridge English (E or better)
College Composition CLEP exam (50 or higher)
As of 2014, UArizona does not accept the College Composition Modular CLEP exam. You can learn more about UArizona's exam credit policies on the Credit by Examination webpage.
If you have an eligible score, you have the choice of taking either WRIT 102/108 or WRIT 109H. You must make your course selection through the Foundations Writing Evaluation (FWE). You can review course descriptions, assignment sheets, and activities from WRIT 102/108 and WRIT109H on the Semester 2 Courses page to help you choose a course.
If haven't yet received scores, you can select any Semester 1 Course now, and then you can update your selection later when/if you receive a qualifying score.
To earn Foundations Writing credit, your official transcripts must be submitted to the UArizona Registrar. More information about submitting your transcripts can be found at this link.
