TEAL Faculty Scholars will have the opportunity to develop, present, and publish a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project. SoTL projects focus on exploring meaningful questions about student learning and are guided by a systematic approach to gathering evidence, sharing results, and improving educational experiences.
This program will be hosted by Academic Affairs' Professional Development Branch. See here for more info on Professional Development through Academic Affairs
Stage 1: Prepare to conduct teaching as research by participating in a faculty learning community designed to support you in this process. You'll have the opportunity to learn and share ideas with a small group of dedicated instructors and faculty support.
Stage 2: Present your work from stage 1 at a conference or teaching workshop. Participating in the annual teaching symposium hosted by Academic Affairs, OIA, and other faculty support organizations is a great opportunity for you to share your ideas and get feedback so that you can move confidently to stage 3: publish.
Stage 3: Publish your work! You'll receive guidance at this stage with feedback, editing, and moral support. You'll learn about various journals you could submit your work to. We'll also talk about ways to extend our publication reach by considering non-traditional publication sites (e.g. teaching newsletters).
