Teaching hack shared at the Fall 2019 Faculty Learning Community Kick-Off: “Instead of writing ‘Objective #1’ on my syllabus and slides, I write ‘Study Guide Question #1’ and students suddenly start paying attention!” -- Katie
The theme for this semester is focused on "learner-centered teaching." We will be using the book Learner-Centered Teaching: 5 Key Changes to Practice by Maryellen Weimer. This is a user-friendly guide to implementing changes to your teaching that empower students to take responsibility for their learning. We'll talk about what learner-centered teaching is and how to implement learner-centered strategies in our teaching to motivate and inspire students (and ourselves)!
This is a question bank for anyone interested in asking formative assessment questions about the affective factors in the classroom. The linked spreadsheet is a google document and is meant to be a living document that can be updated or added to. If you feel like a major category is missing, add a sheet! Note that this is open to anyone who has the link, and feel free to add your own. The items are formatted for zoom polling, so if you would like to add questions other than a multiple choice or multi-select, please indicate so in the sheet. If you have any questions about how to interact with the sheet, feel free to email Byron at byronhempel@email.arizona.edu.
