Supporting Resources

Linked at the bottom of this page, you will find a number of resources to support you and your coursework during your time in the Human Services program.

Please be aware of and review the Student Wellness resources linked below. These resources are specifically for online students. If you are at all concerned with any aspect of your mental health and wellness, please know Dr. Buck and all human services faculty are here to support you and help direct you to appropriate resources.
You are not alone.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, please access this: Crisis Resources & Hotlines.

General Requirements & Responsibilities

  1. You must have a reliable computer and Internet connection throughout your time in the Human Services program. You must have an active UArizona NetID account and regularly check your UArizona Email (it's the only email approved for our class communications). If you have computer problems, there is a laptop loaner program with CAST - contact your advisor for more information.

  2. You are responsible for regularly checking the D2L site for your courses for classwork and announcements. The course site may be accessed through http://D2L.arizona.edu/.

  3. At some point, you WILL have a problem with technology: your laptop will crash, a file will become corrupted, a server will go down, a piece of software will not act as you expect it to, or something else will occur. These are facts of twenty-first-century life, not emergencies (even though they feel like emergencies). To succeed in college and your career, you should develop work habits that consider potential technology issues. Start assignments early and save often. Always keep a backup copy of your work saved somewhere secure (preferably off-site, such as Google Drive, or UA Box). It is entirely your responsibility to take the proper steps to ensure your work will not be lost irretrievably and that it is uploaded in the correct format on time.

  4. APA format is the official style of the American Psychological Association (APA) and is the style used across the Human Services program to cite sources and format your written assignments. There are a number of resources provided below to help you understand and learn how to use APA formatting. The level of expectation may differ by course and instructor. You will therefore need to read individual assignment instructions carefully, then refer to the resources provided to support those expectations. Click on the APA formatting button below to review the basics and explore via additional embedded links, further resources, and examples. A video tutorial on APA style format (7th Edition) is also linked below.

  5. You have access to a dedicated library site for Human Services. On this site, you will find contact information for Jeanne Pfander, 'our' librarian. Jeanne is a great resource in helping you navigate library resources and search for information.

  6. Writing is a critical skill to master for all Human Services professionals. Resources provided below include ThinkTank (have your assignments reviewed online before submission) and the Writing Skills Improvement Program.
