Global History & Geography I serves as the first year of a two-year comprehensive study, exploring world history from 10,000 BCE through to the modern era. Students will engage with the cultural, political, and social developments of various civilizations, gaining a foundational understanding of the interconnected nature of our global community. By analyzing primary and secondary sources, students will develop critical thinking and historical literacy skills necessary to interpret the events and movements that have shaped the world we live in today!
Homework is an important part of the learning process and is assigned to reinforce classroom instruction, develop independent learning skills, and prepare students for future lessons and assessments.
Students are expected to:
Complete assignments thoughtfully and to the best of their ability.
Submit work by the assigned deadline.
Check the class website and/or Google Classroom regularly for assignments and due dates.
Come to class prepared with completed homework when applicable.
Ask questions and seek help when they do not understand an assignment or concept.
Homework should demonstrate genuine effort and understanding. Completing an assignment simply to receive credit is not the goal. Students should use homework as an opportunity to practice skills, strengthen their understanding, and prepare for success in class. Homework not completed to the expected standards will not be counted as completed.
I understand that unexpected circumstances can happen. Students who are unable to complete an assignment on time should communicate with me as soon as possible.
Ten (10) points are taken off each day assigned work is missing unexcused. Students are responsible for completing missed work and checking for any changes to upcoming assignments or deadlines.
Homework assignments are expected on the due date. A student may show their homework the following day after it was due for a 50% score. After 2 days, I do not accept late homework.
A missing assignment is the student's responsibility to address. Students should check the class website and/or Google Classroom to identify missing work and communicate with me if they need clarification or support.
Students are encouraged to ask for help before an assignment becomes overwhelming. Asking questions, attending extra help, and communicating with the teacher are all important parts of being a successful and responsible learner.
