6th Grade: 30 out of 53 teams
7th Grade: 23 out of 61 teams
Chess Team is available for any student, grades 5th-8th. It runs on Wednesdays after school 3-4:30 PM.
December - February
We will be starting CHESS GROUP LESSONS on Wednesdays in November, before school 7:30-8 AM, for Chess Team (5th-8th). It is highly recommended that 5th graders, and students new to Chess Team attend the group lessons.
You do not need to know how to play chess to join. We will watch videos, learn game strategy, experience chess etiquette, and scrimmage in games against each other. Notation and the use of timers is mandatory. We will have our Annual Chess Tournament at the end of our season. Pending use of notation, timers, and overall application of strategies in the tournament, some students will be invited to the State Chess Tournament in February.
