Digital Photography

Welcome To Digital Photography

Ms. Lindenbaum

In this course we will be exploring the many capabilities of our digital cameras in order to be able to get the best and most creative photos. By having a better under- standing of how our cameras fully operate a whole world of possibilities open up. We will be using multiple cameras to get a more diverse understanding of how different cameras operate. We will also be using Photoshop to digitally manipulate and enhance our photos to ultimately leave this course with a finished portfolio of your work.

This course is choc-full of a whole lot of healthy experimenting. Meaning, many of you will be trying things for the first time. A positive attitude is always a great way to start. This class is based on a lot of trial and error. We will often be pairing up and working together as we learn how to use different functions of our cameras to get different effects. Helpfulness, patience, and creative problem solving skills will be put to use in this class.

When downloading images for projects, please be mindful of what might be considered appropriate for school projects. If you have any question of whether something may or may not be appropriate, please ask me. Keep in mind…all images should be appropriate to hang in the hallway, show to your parents, and be approved by the Principal.

Your grade will depend on your participation; projects will be assigned and graded according to your following directions, effort, creativity and craftsmanship.

A Few Things To Keep In Mind…

- YOU help create the atmosphere in this class. We are a group of unique individuals, working together to create some pretty fantastic things. You will be in this room every day for half of the school year. It will be a much more enjoyable class if it is full of positive, respectful, & involved individuals. This is a hands-on class. Please come ready to participate every day.

- Please hand projects in on time. (-5 points for each day assignment is late)

- Extra credit can often be earned once all class requirements have been met. If interested, ask me. (preferably before the last day of the quarter)

- It’s hard to fully connect with others and to what is actually happening in front of you when half of your attention is on your phone. Please do not make cell phones an issue. If they become an issue, I will put them away so that they are no longer an issue.

- We will often be leaving class to take pictures in different kinds of light with different subject matters. Please be mindful of classes in session, noise level, and people that do not want their photograph taken. If this time is not well spent, you will lose the privilege of being able to leave class to take photos.
