Course Description:
Introduction to Television Production is a one-credit course that provides students with a basic overview of television production skills and professions. Students participate in classroom and laboratory activities regarding all aspects of television performance, production, and operations. Upon successful completion of this course, students are prepared for a specialized high school course or for further study in television, film and communications at the college level. This course is a prerequisite for Television Production—Photography and Editing; Television Production—Studio Operations; and Advanced Television Production.
Text:
There is no assigned textbook in the course. All material will be provided with lectures, powerpoints, group and individual projects, and guided and independent practice.

Class Fee:
There will be a class fee of $25. This will help with equipment needed for the class to promote learning of the course. It is set up through MySchoolBucks.

Goals and Objectives: The goal of the class is to introduce and prepare students for a career in television production and audio/visual technology industries. After completing this course the students will be able to:
Develop employability skills
Understand safety procedures when working with TV equipment
Understand trade terminology
Understand proper set-up and use of equipment
Identify and create various types of scripts
Demonstrate the use of technology in recording and post-production applications
Classroom Expectations:

Actively participate in class lessons and activities.
Support your classmates in their educational and personal growth.
Respect your peers and teachers (and anyone who may be visiting the classroom)!

Classroom Rules:
No food or drink, except for bottled water
Arrive to class on time and ready to learn
When class time begins, you need to be sitting in your seat
You should immediately begin on the warm up bellringer
Do not cheat, plagiarize, or copy work
Cheating is completely unacceptable. If I see you cheating on any assignment, you will earn a zero and your actions will be reported to your administrator and parents
Plagiarism is completely unacceptable. If you plagiarize on any assignment, you will earn a zero on that assignment until it is corrected.
Use polite and appropriate language
Do your best work and turn it in on time
All assignments must be neat and professional when turned in
Actively participate in class lessons/activities
Class Consequences:
Verbal warning and/or mini student-teacher conference
Call home
Detention and/or parent-teacher conference
Referral to administrator
Late Assignments:
All assignments must be turned in on the due date. Failure to do so will result in a 10% deduction for the first day, a 25% deduction for the second, and 50% deduction for the third. If an assignment isn’t turned in after 3 days it will result in a 0 for that assignment.
Make-Up Work:
It is the responsibility of the student to request make-up work within 5 days after an excused absence.
Students are responsible for obtaining any missing work upon returning to school.
Any work due on the day you are absent must be turned in when you return without prompting from myself. Check with me for any missed assignments upon your return.
Should an assignment/test be scheduled for the day you return from an absence and a notice was given prior, you are still expected to complete the assignment/test at the scheduled time.
Grading:
60% - Tests/Projects
40% - Quizzes/Daily Grades
Grading Scale: It will be as follows and will be used to formulate letter grades for eligibility, progress reports, and report cards
100 - 90 = A | 89 - 80 = B | 79 - 70 = C | 69 - 60 = D | 59 - 0 = F
Substitutes and Other Information: When there is a substitute for my class, you are responsible for completing assignments (either via Google Classroom or handouts) and leaving them with the sub after class. These assignments count as a quiz grade. If you do not turn one into the substitute, you will receive a zero. Remember to respect the wishes of the substitute and follow their instructions just as you would mine.
