Course Description: Marketing Principles is designed to provide students with an overview of marketing concepts. The course addresses the ways in which marketing satisfies consumer and business needs and wants for products and services. Areas emphasized include economics, entrepreneurship, information management, finance, marketing, product and service planning, promotion, pricing, selling, interpersonal skills, and international marketing.
Materials Needed:
Ø Binder or a 3-prong folder
Ø Pen/Pencils (black or blue ink only)
Course Objectives: The course is designed to help students learn and apply safety concepts, explore career opportunities and requirements, practice the skills needed to succeed in the workplace, develop leadership qualities and take advantage of the opportunities afforded by Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), and learn and practice essential digital literacy skills.
Instructional Methods: PowerPoint presentations, cooperative group activities, class discussions, demonstrations, note-taking, role-playing, online coursework, pictures and videos, and other resources as needed.
Assessment Procedures: Daily assignments, tests and quizzes, performance assessments, laboratory work, project reports, assignment completion, class discussion/participation, and project presentation are used in assessing student learning and progress throughout the course. Work not turned in/attempted will receive a zero for the assignment. Students who have an excused absence will have 3 days to make up work.
Grading:
Ø Major Grades- 60% Tests, projects, portfolios
Ø Minor Grades- 40% Daily work, class assignments, employability grade
Grading Scale:
Ø 90-100 A
Ø 80-89 B
Ø 70-79 C
Ø 60-69 D
Ø 0-59 F
Class Rules & Expectations: The student will adhere to the guidelines of student conduct set forth in the school handbook.

*A severely disruptive student will be immediately sent to the office.
Make-up Work Procedure: Attendance is required. You are responsible for acquiring and completing your make-up work within three days of an absence. You are welcome to ask questions about and get help with any work that you don’t understand. Make-up work can be completed during Flex block with prior approval.
Tardiness and Transitioning out of the room: You are expected to be in the classroom BEFORE the bell rings. The classroom door will be closed when the bell rings and a pass from the office will be required to enter the class. If you need to use the restroom at the start of class, bring your bookbag into the room and place it at your desk BEFORE going to the bathroom. This helps me take attendance. Please make sure the area around your desk is clean and neat before you leave each day. We will regularly wipe down surfaces.
Personal Devices: In accordance with the new State Law and Stanhope Elmore High School policy, cell phones, headphones, earbuds, and camera usage are not allowed in the classroom. I will follow the Code of Conduct for any disciplinary actions.
Academic Dishonesty: Cheating is unacceptable, and any student caught cheating will receive a grade of zero. Cheating includes exchanging papers/files with another student, the use of unauthorized notes, books, copying work from another student, or communicating during times when graded work is given.
Class Fee: $15 (due by August 29, 2025)
