Prepare for a College/Career Fair

• Talk to a parent/guardian before and after your visit to get feedback on your options. 

• Know your personal information:

  • • Valid email address (one you actually check)

    • Telephone number

    • Mailing address

    • Accurate GPA and ACT score (if you plan to submit test scores)

    • Social security number

• Research colleges, military branches, and companies attending and know what they offer.

  • • What do you want to major in, and which schools offer it?   There are sites that can direct your search.  You can also search the programs of study at colleges where you are interested in attending.

    • Are you unsure what to study?  Take a career interest inventory to explore options.

• Make a list of questions you need answered, particularly ones you cannot find on a website.

  • • Always think through this question - "What do I need to know to help me make a decision?"

    • What are their current test-optional policies for admission and scholarships?

    • Also ask about deadlines for applications, housing, scholarships, and other forms of financial aid.

• Job Hunting?  Bring an updated resume or have one accessible to email from your phone.

• Dress well - it’s an informal interview.

• Stay off your phone, make eye contact, and smile!
