Teacher & Staff Devices
Teacher & Staff Devices
Retiring or moving to another district?
If you are not returning to any school in the Elmore County School District, you will need to turn in your laptop and charging cord to the Office of Technology no later than the last day of your contract. iPads/iPhones should be turned into your Technology Coordinator. You will need to turn off any passcodes and reset them. iPads will remain at the campus that owns them. Leave all other devices and equipment in the room it is assigned to. No one needs to relocate this equipment because it is assigned to the room not to a person.
Retiring but returning as a contract worker?
You will need to turn in your device because the person replacing you will be assigned that device. You will be assigned another device once your contract is active. You will just come by our office and fill out paperwork. Make sure all your documents have been saved to your My Document Folder/One Drive/or Google Drive. If you do this, you will not lose anything. We will not close a contract worker’s account if you have called Jane and been added to the list. This will ensure your documents are not discarded.
Returning to your school next year? But maybe moving classrooms.
You may take your laptop home with you for the summer or safely lock it away in your classroom. If you take it home with you, you are agreeing to abide by the Acceptable Use Policy and are financially responsible for its care and security. Your laptop is the only piece of hardware that is assigned to you. All other equipment is assigned to the classroom, so it is not to be moved without the permission of the principal/tech coordinator/ school inventory contact. Exceptions maybe your Donors.org or grant equipment. Leave all other devices and equipment in the room it is assigned.
Changing schools within the district?
If you are moving to another school within the district, you will take your laptop with you, along with its charging cord. You take your laptop home with you for the summer because you are not returning to that school. If you take it home with you, you are agreeing to abide by the Acceptable Use Policy and are financially responsible for its care and security. If you have received equipment through a grant or a particular department, check with the person who assigned it to see if it goes with you or stays at the current school. Items received through Donors.org stays with the school that grant was written. Leave all other devices and equipment in the room it is assigned.
What about other equipment and devices?
ALL OTHER EQUIPMENT should remain in the room it is assigned. DO NOT MOVE DESKTOPS, PHONES, PROJECTORS, DOCUMENT CAMERAS, OR AUDIO ENHANCEMET EQUIPMENT. If equipment must be moved, technology staff will move it.
Audio Enhancement devices should remain charging over the summer break.
Docking Stations should remain in the assigned room.
Phones are not moved – they are inventoried by the provider and often the phone number is tied to the room number.
All power cords stay with the devices. Best practice is to label them.
