Hey there! My name is Samantha Proseus and I'm a nursing major and an adventurer. I try spend a majority of my free time either hiking, running, spending time with my family, or hanging out with my animals.

Amongst all of the photos that I've taken, a majority of them are either images of cool sights I see outdoors, candid moments with the ones I love, or simply cute photos of my pets back home. In other words, I try to photograph anything that makes me happy or catches my eye. My goal is to capture moments that are unexpected, in the hopes that they're more genuine. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a little cheesey picture here and there...

As cliche as it may sound, I think what influences me the most is the environment around me. I grew up in the middle of no where, and I've always appreciated nature and all of the beautiful sights to see that are right outside my door. Whether it means I have to climb to the top of a mountain to see it, or simply get a close up of some moss on a log, at the end of the day it's still all coming from the same place... the outdoors.

Aside from the outdoors, I also try to include my people as much as I can. I prefer candids over staged photos, so every here and there I capture a couple pictures while I'm with my loved ones without even realizing it. Almost like a mindless task for me, but I always end up looking back on the images I took and remember the moment I took it... brings me a lot of joy for sure and I'm grateful to have the privilege of doing so.

If I had to choose something for people to take away from my work, it would be nothing more than for them to be inspired to begin taking images on their own. Photography for me is an outlet, something that I enjoy and never causes me to feel pressured, anxious, or anything of the sorts. Simply grab your device that you're choosing to take images on, find something that you're drawn to, and go for it! You may just find out that you're more in love with photography than you thought...
