In 2018 the Pre-Law Student Association created Elmira College's first competitive mock trial team in the illustrious institution's 136-year history. The team competes in both invitational tournaments throughout the year as well as the American Mock Trial Association's ("AMTA") National Championship Series (featuring over 700 teams from over 400 colleges and universities across the country). Despite being new to the league, the Elmira College Mock Trial Team seeks to establish itself as a premier mock trial organization in the Northeast within its next few years of existence.
In February, Elmira College's Mock Trial Team competed against schools such as Cornell University, Ithaca College, Columbia University, New York University, etc. during the Regional Competition component of AMTA's National Championship Series. At the Regional Competition, Ms. Elizabeth Foster'21 won "Outstanding Attorney." In addition, in January, the team competed at the Bobcat Invitational Mock Trial Tournament at Quinnipiac School of Law in North Haven, Connecticut.
Elmira College's Mock Trial is open to ALL students regardless of year, major, career interests, or post-graduation plans. To find out more about the mock trial team, please email the team's coach and sponsor - Dr. Daniel N. Clay
