Mrs. Anthony's 4th Grade Class

Welcome to 4th grade! Here is where you can find important information, test dates, due dates, and upcoming events. You can also find some more information about what is taught in each subject in 4th grade through the tabs at the top of this page. Please email me with any questions. I will respond within 24 hours, and I am available by appointment for a phone call or meeting.

What Can I Do at Home?

Reading: The most important thing the kids can do during this time is continue to read for enjoyment. Mrs. Greska allowed the kids to check out a bunch of books before they left! Read! Read! Read! I have also updated the students' levels on raz-kids.com. They can log on, and they will need a teacher code. Our classroom code is aanthony30. They can read the passages on here and be practicing at their individual level.  Under the reading tab on the website, all of the fourth grade standards for trimester 3 are listed. The students can practice these skills with any book they are reading. They can write journal entries in their independent reading workshop notebook in their Google Drive. Students can also go onto Newsela.com and read nonfiction articles. They can journal and practice their reading skills in their acceleration notebook as well. NEW!! Check your emails for the email from Epic. It allows students to access the program for free from home.

Math: Under the math tab on this website, you can find some math links for additional activities. Some students are struggling with their math facts. These facts are really important for the rest of the year in multiplication, division, and fractions. Please practice at home if you have some time. If you or your child is ever looking for some help with Eureka Math, you can always google the grade, module, lesson, and Duane and a video from youtube will come up with a mini lesson that lasts about 10 minutes.

How to be Successful in 4th Grade

The most important part of being a successful fourth grader is being responsible. Fourth grade is a time where teachers start to put more responsibility on the students to write down their assignments, ask for help if they need it rather than asking their parents to send the teachers an email, and being responsible for their materials. We focus a lot on self advocacy and making sure they ask for help or materials if they are misplaced.
