District 205 has created a Master Facility Plan (MFP) focusing on educational needs for students, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), All Day Kindergarten, and Future Ready Learning. The plan also address pressing safety and security, maintenance, and facility needs.
The MFP will allow the District to continue to offer exceptional student experiences in all schools. The plan reflects the District’s commitment to Future Ready Learning, equal access to technology, and similar learning spaces in all schools.
The planning process began in 2015 with Focus 205, a collaborative conversation between the community and the District. The team’s recommendations included developing a Master Facility Plan, exploring All Day Kindergarten, which is offered by most other high-performing unit districts, and bringing preliminary facility plans and pricing back to the community for additional feedback.
After thoughtful study and conversation, the Board of Education agreed to share the draft Master Facility Plans with the public for additional feedback. Community feedback was used to refine the options and help determine next steps.
